Aircraft weathervane made from 14 gauge steel. Airplane is approximately 20” long and is mounted on a cold-rolled steel rod supported by 2 sealed bearings.
The weathervane arms are 20” wide and the mounting post is 1” steel pipe with threads on the bottom to accommodate many different mounting scenarios. We also offer mounting solutions for Roof Gables, Roof Top, Wooden Posts and Stand Alone Mounts. These weathervanes are available with your own N-number for no additional charge; when ordering please indicate the requested N-number. Standard airplane color is a smooth matte black.
Each piece is cut on our CNC plasma table, placed in an acid bath to remove mill scale and plasma dross then passivated in a baking soda solution to neutralize the action of the acid. Next the metal is media blasted to provide a superior surface for the powder coat. The powder coating is a process where a fine powder is electrostatically bonded to the metal and then placed in a 400 degree oven to cure. The result is a durable UV resistant finish that is resistant to the effects of wind, rain and UV radiation. Each piece has been custom created by Scott Snyder.
