Interested in 2 Cessna 195 weathervanes. Do they have to be mounted on roof tops? I’m interested in ones that are on poles in the yard. Here in Kansas the vane will be in the next counties over if it’s on the roof. Lovely winds. 🙁

Hi Alice, They can be mounted in a yard. The bottom of the weathervane is terminated with a 1″ standard pipe thread. Most people who want them in the yard purchase a 1″ pipe and coupling from any big box (Lowes/Home Depot) or hardware store. At my own home I dug a post hole and placed the 1″ pipe in the hole with some concrete mix. I do not supply the mounting pipe as the dimensions and weight would be more costly than the pipe itself. I do sell a “stand alone” base but it is not heavy enough to leave out in the yard during inclement weather. I also sell a wooden post mount if you desire to mount the weathervane on a wooden fence post.
